Why Coach IN SSA
SSA takes pride in our coaching training and services, and continually look at new ways to improve our coaches on and off the pitch.
Coaching Overview
In 2018 we took a strong stance, with a unanimous vote by the club’s Board, to have ALL SSA teams play solely for NorCal Premier League (NCPL). It’s important that moving forward, more of what SSA does is streamlined to ensure a unified process, from registration to rule of play and playing under one league moves us forward in that direction.
Our Philosophy
SSA uses the U.S. Soccer Curriculum as the foundation for the club’s coaching philosophy. All coaches are encouraged to read and to use the curriculum to improve their players’ technical, tactical, physical, and psychosocial development.
The presentation of the U.S. Soccer coaching curriculum is another major step in the implementation of the framework developed by the Player Development Task Force, which was created in 2006 to review all aspects of player development in the United States and recommend a course of action.
The curriculum is designed to improve development of players in the organized player base in the United States, concentrating on creating more organized, age-appropriate training sessions, developing coaching practices and creating an environment that is fun for the players.
